Refrigerated and Insulated Shipping Containers
Climate-controlled containers
Container Projects Ltd manages the supply of high-specification refrigerated units, often called reefers, for industrial and commercial sectors. For businesses requiring container sales or flexible container hire, we provide rapid delivery from regional depots. You can get a quote to confirm technical specifications for your site. These units maintain internal temperatures between -25°C and +25°C.
We supply refrigerated units as one-trip stock. A one-trip unit is a new container that has made a single journey from the manufacturer to the UK. Every reefer intended for international transport carries a CSC plate. A CSC plate is a safety approval plate required for international shipping to certify structural safety.
Choose the right thermal container type
Selecting a unit depends on whether you require active cooling or passive insulation. All our reefers feature stainless steel internal linings and T-bar aluminium floors.
Refrigerated and freezer containers
A refrigerated container provides active temperature control for fresh produce and pharmaceuticals. For sub-zero requirements, a freezer container maintains consistent deep-freeze environments. These units require a 3-phase power supply to operate the machinery.
Non-operational reefer and insulated units
A non-operational reefer provides high-grade insulation without the refrigeration machinery. This is a cost-effective solution for storing paints, documents, or chemicals that require protection from ambient temperature fluctuations. These are often used as the base for container conversions due to their built-in insulation.
Condition grades and aftercare
The condition of the insulation and door seals is critical for thermal efficiency. We supply used units that meet the IICL standard. IICL refers to a high standard of container repair and condition set by the Institute of International Container Lessors. For general storage, we provide wind- and watertight units. A wind- and watertight unit is a condition grade that ensures the unit is sealed against weather and light. We confirm the tare and payload of every unit. The tare is the weight of the empty container. The payload is the maximum weight of cargo the container can carry.
Delivery access and site requirements
Container Projects Ltd coordinates container haulage using hiab crane vehicles. Siting a refrigerated unit requires specific technical conditions:
- Power Supply: Most units require a 3-phase 32amp power connection.
- Ground Surface: The ground must be level and firm, such as concrete, to ensure door seals remain effective.
- Access: Delivery trucks require a minimum width of 10ft for transit.
- Clearance: Check for overhead power cables or low branches before the vehicle arrives.
