Modified Shipping Containers
Container Projects Ltd manages the modification and supply of containers for site welfare and commerce. For organisations that need to buy containers for permanent installations or hire containers for temporary projects, we provide rapid delivery from UK depots. You can get a quote to confirm lead times for your specific conversion. Our logistics network ensures every unit reaches your site ready for occupancy.
We use one-trip units as the base for most conversions. A one-trip unit is a new container that has made a single journey from the manufacturer to the UK. Every unit intended for international transport features a CSC plate. A CSC plate is a safety approval plate required for international shipping to certify structural safety.
Choose the right modified container type
Selecting a conversion depends on your required headcount and site constraints. Container Projects Ltd provides technical support for a wide range of site layouts.
Modular buildings and workshops
We supply modular buildings and site accommodation units, including offices, canteens, and drying rooms. For industrial tasks, workshop containers feature electrical fit-outs, workbenches, and secure storage for tools. If you need administrative space and storage in one frame, we supply 50-50 office stores.
Retail and aesthetic modifications
For brand activations, pop-up retail containers include serving hatches and glass doors. We provide clad and painted containers to help steel units blend into sensitive environments or match corporate branding. To save ground space, topper unit containers allow for vertical stacking.
Condition grades and conversion quality
Internal conditions and thermal performance are vital for accommodation. We use units that meet the IICL standard for high-end offices. IICL refers to a high standard of container repair and condition set by the Institute of International Container Lessors. For basic workshop storage, we provide units graded as wind and watertight. A wind- and watertight unit is a condition grade that ensures the unit is sealed against weather and light. We confirm the tare for every delivery. The tare is the weight of the empty container.
Delivery access and site placement
Container Projects Ltd coordinates container haulage using hiab crane vehicles. Siting a modified unit requires careful preparation:
- Ground Level: Siting must be on a level, firm surface to prevent misalignment of doors and windows.
- Vertical Clearance: Check for overhead cables; stacked topper units can exceed 18ft in height.
- Power Connection: Most modified units require an external electrical hook-up.
