Container Types
ISO Shipping Containers
Standard ISO containers across the United Kingdom
Container Projects Ltd manages the supply of standardised ISO equipment for global and domestic logistics. For companies looking to buy containers or rent containers in the UK, we offer a vast inventory of equipment ready for immediate dispatch. You can get a quote through our technical team to confirm lead times and delivery logistics. Every unit intended for international transport features a CSC plate. A CSC plate is a safety approval plate required for international shipping to certify structural integrity.
We supply units in various grades, including one-trip stock. A one-trip unit is a new container that has made a single journey from the manufacturer to the UK. For used equipment, we offer units that meet the IICL standard. IICL refers to a high standard of container repair and condition set by the Institute of International Container Lessors. For static storage, we provide wind- and watertight units. A wind- and watertight unit is a condition grade that ensures the unit is sealed against weather and light.
Choose the right ISO container size and type
Selecting the correct unit depends on cargo volume, weight, and loading methods. Container Projects Ltd stocks standard lengths of 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft.
General-purpose and high-cube units
The general purpose container is the industry standard for dry cargo. For voluminous goods, high cube units provide an extra foot of vertical height. This additional space is often used to install insulation or house tall machinery. The internal height of a standard unit is approximately 2.39m, whereas a high cube offers 2.70m.
Open top and hard top units
For cargo that exceeds height limits or requires crane loading, we provide open-top containers. These feature a removable tarpaulin. Alternatively, hard-top units use a removable steel roof for enhanced security and protection against environmental debris.
Flat racks and platforms
Oversized industrial machinery requires flat rack units, which lack side walls. For concentrated loads with no vertical obstructions, platform containers provide a reinforced floor capable of handling high point loads.
Specialised ISO tanks and half-heights
Container Projects Ltd supports the chemical and energy sectors with specialised vessels. An ISO tank is a stainless steel pressure vessel used to transport liquids or gases. For dense materials such as pipes, chains, or anchors, half-height containers offer a low-profile solution that is easy to load from above. These are essential for offshore and mining operations across the UK.
Delivery access, siting, and placement
Container Projects Ltd coordinates container haulage using hiab crane vehicles. Site managers must confirm specific constraints before the vehicle arrives:
- Ground Surface: The area must be firm and level to prevent the frame from sinking or twisting.
- Access Width: Vehicles require a minimum width of 10ft for transit.
- Turning Space: A 40ft delivery truck needs approximately 100ft of straight approach for safe positioning.
- Vertical Clearance: Check for low bridges or power cables; loaded trucks often exceed 15ft in height.
We provide the tare and payload for every unit. The tare is the weight of the empty container. The payload is the maximum weight of cargo the container can carry.
Security and aftercare
All Container Projects Ltd ISO units include robust locking bars. We can install factory-fitted lock boxes to protect padlocks from tampering. Our aftercare team provides maintenance advice for door seals and hinges to ensure your container remains weather-proof throughout its service life.
